4D Sight

Research and design focused on immersive advertisements within video games, live sports games, and other environments at a real-time AR advertisement startup.


Overview

4D Sight is a deep video monetization platform whose computer vision technology creates a new class of ad inventory across various mediums to enhance monetization opportunities. As digital advertising has become more irritating and intrusive over time, 4D Sight creates powerful and authentic ad formats for creators so they don’t have to jeopardize the audience experience for the sake of monetization.

Within this role, I was able to conduct a variety of design projects throughout the span of one summer. I created a series of Ad Design guidelines for clients so that their advertisements would fit the locations we immersed them in; I was then able to research and design sample 2D Ad campaigns within games like CS:GO and Call of Duty. Lastly, I was able to design advertisements for sports games, create 3D ad campaigns, and also practice a bit of graphic design for a couple social media images.

I used Figma and Photoshop within this role in order to composite advertisements onto screenshots of different environments.

Ad Design Guidelines


The Ad Design Guide was created in order to make sure client advertisements looked as visually appealing as possible and to also avoid design issues within the games. The guide outlined the requirements for advertisements in different formats and placement locations. Clients would refer to it for specs such as dimensions, file formatting, graphical considerations, and character limits.


Intel Ad Campaign


I was assigned the task of mocking up a sample Intel ad campaign within CS:GO. I took intel advertisements along with CS:GO screenshots and utilized Figma and Photoshop in order to composite them together in order to illustrate a rendering of the campaign.

I was assigned the task of mocking up a sample ad campaign within different Call of Duty maps. I took advertisements from a variety of companies along with Call of Duty screenshots and utilized Figma and Photoshop in order to composite them together in order to illustrate a rendering of the campaign.

2D CS:GO Ad Formats


For this task, I had to research and design new 2-dimensional advertisement formats within the game CS:GO; this included advertisements that incorporated in-game sprays, real-time advertisements, and also advertisements that involved Twitch notifications. After sketching out basic ideas, I chose the best ones and mocked them up using Figma and Photoshop. (Embedded videos are not available in the deck but can be seen in gifs right below.)

3D CS:GO Ad formats


For this task, I had to research and design new 3-dimensional advertisement formats within the game CS:GO; this included advertisements that incorporated product placements, 3D logos, and company logos. After sketching out basic ideas, I chose the best ones and mocked them up using Figma and Photoshop.

Lastly, I also made a few graphic designs for their social media using Illustrator and Figma.


Reflection


This internship was the first time I had done professional design work within the AR industry. It was a great experience getting to meet people who were actively pushing the boundaries utilizing this technology. I was able to learn a lot even though I was not that proficient with 3D softwares yet at this time; Figma was surprisingly powerful at compositing and I got to practice product design in a 3D context for the first time.
